Hope you have a great New Year’s Eve! I’m looking forward to what the New Year will hold for the Brouhaha. Starting a blog in 2009 was one of the highlights of my year. Thanks for visiting and commenting…love you for it!

P.S. Thanks, Em, for the tips on achieving the new Botanical Brouhaha look!
Obviously, I’m ready to kiss the cold weather goodbye and say hello to Spring…

…too many things about this bouquet that I love to list…but we might as well try…the pincushion protea in a shade I’ve never seen, the palest pink peonies, the lisianthus, the dusty miller, the hyacinth, the sterling silver ribbon…and the Boutwell logo on the photography…

…be still my heart…never seen ranunculus in such dreamy colors…a mound of blushing bride… and a cafe au lait ribbon- wrapped handle that picks up the color of the scabiosa pods…perfect.

We’ve still got a while before we can enjoy the beginning of Spring and the return of our beloved flower gardens…but it’s never too early to daydream…
Thanks for visiting Botanical Brouhaha today! I love it when you stop by…
I was surprised how many people read my last post on green bouquets. Green is no longer a wallflower standing by while brighter hued flowers take center stage…
…loved this arrangement posted by Brooke at Velvet and Linen just before Christmas…if you haven’t visited her blog, you really should…it’s such a treat…
(image via Velvet and Linen)
…green hydrangeas and hypericum berries contrast with white peonies and blue muscari…muscari is always a favorite…

…decadent…grey-green succulents, hydrangeas, scabiosa pods and near black scabiosa…a favorite look of mine…

…lime green cymbidium orchids are stunning against blue and white seersucker…love the black eye of the ornithagolum (Star-of-Bethlehem)…

...on a different note…Joni at Cote de Texas posted this picture a little while back and I am still daydreaming about how I can make my driveway look like this…hard when your house is only 50 feet from the street…

…nothing is more striking than lime with black and white…balls of Kermit mums add a modern edge to the black and white damask print box…thanks, Jenny, for sharing this amazing website...

Maybe I needed to post about green today because there isn’t much of it around here this time of year…except the sweet peas struggling to reach the trellis out back. Stretch, Sweet Peas, Stretch! I need you to bloom…
I’m in a tug of war with myself…
A while back I saw these pictures at Blush and I can’t get the colors out of my head…
…so I decided that I would redo my downstairs after Christmas and incorporate some of the pinks and blues…
Here’s the thing:
1. I am the ONLY female in my house (that includes the dog).
2. I am usually drawn to soft shades of blue, green, grey and white (see Velvet and Linen).
3. I feel I am turning into a bore.
4. I need a little infusion of fun around here.
We took everything out of our bedroom today and have it prepared to begin painting in the morning. All the paint will be white so I’m not committed to anything yet. But, I can just see a big vase of pink peonies in the spring…
What do you all think I should do? Stay with the soft colors or take the plunge and color my world for a little fun?
Hope you all had a great Christmas!

Hope you all have a wonderful time with family and friends this Christmas…
…dusty miller and jingle bells on our front door…
Merry Christmas!
As Christmas approaches, red is everywhere. I’m not crazy about orangey reds, but I love deep, deep reds…
…’Black Baccara” and ‘Black Magic’ roses are favorites of mine…the petals are true red in the middle and darken toward the outer petals with a velvety appearance…

…love the texture and richness the callas add to this bouquet…

…I always fall for bouquets that incorporate these blue/black viburnum berries…such a sophisticated look…

A few more Jane Packer gift bouquets I would be happy to receive…
…love these hatboxes stuffed with roses…and really love the Jane Packer ribbon…
…’Aqua’ roses…one of my favorites…perfect shape and lovely pink with lavender undertones…
Oh, how I love Jane Packer flowers…
It’s Christmas week, you guys! Hope everyone is well and anticipating the holiday with plenty of joy…

What would I love for Christmas? To see one of these pull up in front of my house…
…and a handsome delivery guy hop out to deliver one of these…
…from my husband, of course.
If only Jane Packer would move her flower operation to Central Texas…

You can call them flower spheres, flower balls, flower orbs or pomanders…I just call them fun…
… because I have boys, I can imagine the guests at this table picking up these hydrangea balls and throwing them at one another…I’m sure that would never happen…but it’s fun to imagine for a moment…don’t tell my boys I said that!

…romantic roses with a pearl handle…very Rachel Ashwell to me…
(image via My Wedding Flower Ideas)
…could just eat these up…and can you imagine the scent of that many roses in one place? I just love the color of these roses…
(image via Camilla Flowers)
…so many awesome parts to this woodsy centerpiece… the moss, the maidenhair fern and the mum orb on a slice of wood (my favorite part of the display)…
(image via Stoneblossom)
As a designer, I have to say these are just as much fun to make as they are to enjoy at an event!
One week until Christmas Eve…can you believe it?
~‘Heat’ roses, hypericum berries and freesia in a velvet hatbox~
Hope you guys are further along with your Christmas shopping than I am…seems I have a little problem with gift commitment. You know, like “What if I see something better later?” or “What if I find it at a better price at the next store?”
Well, I’m off to shop again…wish me luck!
Thanks for stopping by today…
What is it about Stephanotis that captivates us? Maybe it’s the subtle scent or the flawless white waxy bloom or the jewels you can add to the centers…
…or maybe it’s the tailored look of a stephanotis posy…
(image via Petal’s Edge)
…maybe it’s the lushness of the blooms when used en masse…
(image via Stoneblossom)
…or maybe it’s an appreciation for the amount of work that goes into handwiring each individual bloom…
(image via Martha Stewart)
…maybe it’s simply the fact that there is no flower more beautiful…
(image via Lavender Green Flowers)
Remember when Jessica Simpson carried a 500-stem bouquet of Stephanotis (created by Mark’s Garden) in her Texas wedding to Nick Lachey ? The media reported that the bouquet took 12 hours to create and cost around $8000.00!
…apparently a 500-stem Stephanotis bouquet can’t insure a long and happy marriage…
Have a great Wednesday! I think I better start my Christmas shopping today…wouldn’t want to wait till the last minute.
My first post on calla bouquets continues to have traffic several times a week…so I thought I might show you a few more…
…looks like ‘Flame’ callas to me…reminds me of the sunset…

…simple white calla bouquet with a gorgeous handle…notice how a great photographer makes a bouquet look even more beautiful…the background adds a great artistic flair…
(image via Julie Mikos)
… been saving this picture a long time…just love the color combination…deep aubergine and lavender mist…
(image via Lanielizabeth)
Callas are still favorites of mine for monobotanical bouquets. I think they’re exquisite as a stand alone variety…in volume…and more is always better (in my opinion)!
I, personally, prefer monochromatic calla bouquets. I would love to know what everyone else prefers…one color or mixed?
Thanks for visiting the Brouhaha today! Have a great day…
